I received the following in email from my good friend, Halle:
“Hi everyone,
My grandmother is turning 90 yrs old on July 4th. Last year around this time, she moved to DC from Cleveland, Ohio, after deciding to sell the home that she owned for over 30 yrs, in hopes of adding some excitement to her life. If you haven’t already had the chance to meet her, (and I hope you all do someday), she is pure joy. At 89, her sense of humor is awesome, and she is still sharp-minded and even sharper tongued. Although she left her friends and family in Cleveland, she will tell you that moving to D.C. has been a wonderful change. She enjoys the city tremendously, and her social calendar is so full that when I call her she’s often too busy to talk and tells me that she’ll get back to me in a few weeks.
For her birthday, my family is hoping that she’ll receive 90 birthday cards at her new home.
As a favor to me, would you consider sending her a birthday card? When you sign your name, you can tell her that you are a friend of mine, which makes you a friend of hers.
”
How awesome is that?!
I have already gotten her two cards. I only hope by the time I am ninety, I have left enough of a mark on someone that they consider doing something so clever, thoughtful and dear.

That is so sweet! I kinda want to send her a card, too!!
Please send her a card! She is so tickled by each card that arrives daily in the mail. Amber can give you her address.
How thoughtful! I would like to send her a card, too. It’s nice when people do nice things for each other.
This is an awesome idea!
