Never Settle

by Amber on August 16, 2010

Been a rough couple weeks in my world, but through it all, one theme sticks out:

Don’t settle. Ever.

When things are hectic, it is easy to try to find comfort in the familiar things and brush everything else aside.  After all, we all need some familiar now and then, but if those familiar things are not everything that you desire, stop leaning on them. They are not comforting, they are crippling.

Stop embracing and owning things and people are not completely what you desire in your life. This goes for friendships, jobs, hobbies, whatever!  If it doesn’t feel good, stop and evaluate why.   And don’t be afraid to change your course mid path if you discover someone or something isn’t right for you!

Think of it this way, it’s better to stop investing now than continue on and “discover” something isn’t for you, when you felt something was wrong many moons ago.

Settling sucks. For any reason.
So stop doing it.

Moving forward, if you can’t embrace something 100% – leave it for someone who can!

And where were you with this advice when my now ex-husband asked me to marry him in 99??? lol

But I agree; in the long run, settling will make you miserable, bitter and, well, jaded. *sigh*

really really liked this post. i especially liked where you spoke of not being afraid of changing course mid path, which personally speaking, has always been a weakness of mines. since i have written the book on …having come too far to turn back to turn back… your words spoke to my heart. Amber you have been on a roll with the posts.

Thanks for sharing…this has been most helpful. I myself have been very scared of transition lately i.e. trying to relocate, leave my corporate job, etc—-I keep 2nd guessing myself. Your words definitely reign true and should be the theme song of my life right now :-) Thx
